Nintendo’s earnings and operating profit for the first fiscal quarter beat analyst expectations, but the gaming company disappointed with a drop in sales of its Nintendo Switch video games console.
The Japanese company announced that it had sold 1.9m Switch consoles between April and June, down from 2m Switch consoles sold in the same quarter last year, bringing the total sold to 19.67 million.
However, the business pleased analysts with the amount of Switch games it sold in the quarter: 18m games, up from 8.1m last year.
