The Government’s most senior technology adviser is believed to be taking up a new role at Amazon.
Liam Maxwell is the national technology adviser for the Department for Digital Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) – a position he has held for more than two years.
However, he recently handed in his resignation to take up a “senior role” at Amazon Web Services (AWS), a Cabinet Office source said.
The move highlights the problematic transfer window between the Government and private sector and the potential for conflicts of interest between technology giants and the bodies that regulate them.
