Facebook subsidiary is refused a business licence in China

Facebook’s push into China has been dealt a blow after the state’s regulators confirmed the social media giant has not been issued with a licence to operate in the country.

Last week, it was revealed that Facebook was setting up an innovation centre in China in an attempt to give the technology giant a small foothold in the country where it has been banned since 2009.

However, China’s regulators said on Monday that Facebook was declined a licence to operate its new business, the Financial Times reports. Rumours of the refusal have been circulating since Wednesday.
