Christmas Tree Rice Krispies Treats

I don’t know who liked these more, my kids or me. Probably me because they totally took me back to being a kid.

I mean how could they not?

Christmas Tree Rice Krispies Treats

They are made using the classic Rice Krispies treat recipe that we all love, but instead of the classic squares they are tinted green and shaped into cones, then covered in sprinkles.

So basically a total upgrade :).

With these you can decide how much work you want to put into them.

For the easiest method you can nix the icing and sprinkles then just dust them with powered sugar instead for a a snow laced tree.

I saw the idea for these on Family Circle but their recipe didn’t call for icing and luckily I’d bought some because I couldn’t get anything to stick without it.

The kids added a lot more icing to theirs than I did – because it can be tedious adding a teeny tiny dot but theirs had a cute snowy look with the extra icing.

With these you can also use piping bags and tips even if using store-bought icing if you want more detail.

Then if you want the sprinkles over the icing – I just poured some sprinkles into a container lid and rolled the trees over the sprinkles so they’d stick to the icing.

I’ve also seen others make these using colorful mini MMs for ornaments which the kids would definitely love (the more color the better, right?).

Plus I love those little bites of chocolate flavor in Rice Krispies Treats so I think I’ll go that route next year when we make them.

Oh and if you want to do a few tiny trees like I did I used mini tootsie rolls (with the ends trimmed so they’d stand) for the stump instead of Reeses. Those itty bitty mini trees are my favorite.

And then pour piles and piles of powdered sugar to mimic a snowy wonderland. But really don’t, it’s a big mess to clean :).

I hope you have as much fun decorating these as I did!
